Performance from 0 - 450 m3/h.
RECUBOX® X-POOL
RECUBOX® X-POOL is a premium chemically resistant heat recovery unit designed for air heat recovery in swimming pools, wellness centres, saunas, laboratories and other spaces with high humidity or the presence of mildly aggressive chemicals.
Why choose RECUBOX® X-POOL
- High chemical resistance for swimming pool and corrosive environments
- Robust welded construction without screws, rivets or adhesives
- Easy cleaning and a high hygiene standard
- Easy installation and straightforward servicing
- High configuration flexibility and flexible positioning of connection ports
- Long service life even under demanding operating conditions
Design and material construction
The entire unit casing, flanges, filter frames, holders and other external components are made of high-quality polypropylene (PP). The construction is designed without unnecessary metal components, with maximum emphasis on resistance in demanding environments.
The unit material is highly resistant to:
- chlorine and ozone in swimming pool applications,
- acids and alkalis,
- solvents, alcohols and volatile organic compounds (VOC),
- salt mist and corrosive humidity.
The construction uses 100% welded joints. This means no glued joints, no adhesive seals and a minimal risk of leakage. All important sealing elements are mechanically fitted and are easy to replace.
Smooth hygienic walls allow easy cleaning and maintenance. The unit is designed to provide very low servicing requirements while maintaining a high hygiene standard.
Thanks to their robust construction, high quality and maximum hygienic safety, our RECUBOX® units are part of a number of CTU projects, including the unique S.A.W.E.R. system, which UCEEB is developing for extracting drinking water from air.
Heat exchanger – RECUTECH EPOXY version
The unit is equipped with a heat exchanger in an epoxy-coated version, suitable for operation in more aggressive and corrosive environments.
- Corrosion resistance according to ASTM B117, tested in a salt spray chamber (NaCl 5% / 35 °C) for up to 1,000 hours
- High resistance to solvents – for example trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene
- Technical parameters corresponding to aluminium counterflow heat exchangers without an epoxy surface coating

Installation and maintenance
- Fans are not part of the unit – they are installed directly in the ventilation ductwork, saving space in the plant room.
- If necessary, the fans can be replaced quickly without interfering with the RECUBOX® unit itself.
- The unit is designed for easy service access and straightforward maintenance.
A better choice than all-stainless-steel heat recovery
Thanks to the properties of polypropylene, RECUBOX® X-POOL is a highly attractive alternative to all-stainless-steel solutions in selected applications. In aggressive chemical environments, even stainless steel may suffer from corrosion over time, while a high-quality PP construction maintains its long-term stability and airtightness.
Perfect choice for
- Swimming pools, water parks, wellness centres and saunas – environments with chlorine and high humidity
- Laboratories and fume hoods – heat recovery in mildly aggressive chemical environments
- Chemical plants and storage facilities, including filling stations
- Paint shops, galvanising plants and treatment facilities with corrosive vapours
- Agricultural buildings – for example environments with ammonia or silage gases
- Production and technological containers in corrosive and humid environments
Main advantages of RECUBOX® units
| Easy heat exchanger removal The heat exchanger can be removed from the unit very easily and quickly, literally in one movement. |
|
| Maximum hygiene Both the unit and the heat exchanger can be easily accessed and thoroughly cleaned. The heat exchanger is certified with the ILH Berlin hygiene certificate and the RECUBOX® material is also suitable for demanding hygienic applications. |
|
| Mechanical sealing without adhesives The heat exchanger is sealed in a groove without the use of adhesives or adhesive tapes that may degrade over time. The seal can be easily replaced if necessary. |
|
| No screws, rivets or adhesives RECUBOX® is made from a single material using hot-gas welding technology. The result is completely airtight joints without degradation caused by ageing. |
|
| Wide size range Thanks to the broad range of sizes, we can design a suitable RECUBOX® even for spaces with limited installation possibilities. |
|
| Compatibility with RECUTECH heat exchangers RECUBOX® X-POOL units are designed for the complete range of RECUTECH heat exchangers in EPOXY versions certified by EUROVENT. |
|
| Wide performance range RECUBOX® units cover a broad range of applications, from smaller installations to large technological operations. |
|
| Maximum flexibility The positioning of inlet and outlet connection ports can be configured in a very wide range of variants according to the specific application. |
|
| Mirror configuration All variants are also available in a mirrored configuration. Condensate drainage is provided by a 1/2" threaded connection and is fitted in two positions. |
Additional practical advantages
Easy installation thanks to prepared mounting holes for threaded rods.
Large-surface filters allow the use of any suitable filter medium. In the standard version, the unit is equipped with M5 filter media.
By-pass is available as a separate bypass section or as an integrated version with the possibility of servo actuator control.

What ducting should be used for pool ventilation?
The choice of ductwork material is just as important for a swimming pool as the heat recovery unit itself. An aggressive environment with chlorine content combined with high humidity can destroy improperly selected ducting within a few months.
Why avoid aluminum and cheap “flex” hoses?
Commonly used aluminum flexible ducts (so-called Alu-flexi, Sono-flexi) are completely unsuitable for pool environments. Chlorine vapors cause rapid oxidation of aluminum, which appears as white powder formation followed by perforation of the duct wall.
Warning about leaks: Once corrosion occurs, the system loses pressure balance, humidity in the building structure increases, and mold may develop around leaking duct sections.
Recommended materials for RECUBOX® X-POOL
For long-term reliable operation of pool ventilation, we recommend using materials that naturally resist corrosion:
| Plastic ducting (PVC / PP) | Ideal choice for pools. Smooth plastic ducts are 100% resistant to chlorine and moisture and have minimal pressure losses. |
| Stainless steel ducting | Premium solution with extreme mechanical durability. Suitable for exposed design ducting in interior spaces. |
| Insulated EPE ducting | Excellent for routes passing through unheated areas. Foamed polyethylene is non-absorbent and chemically resistant. |
Important: Slope and condensate drainage
Gravity works for you:
All horizontal duct runs must be sloped towards the RECUBOX® unit (minimum slope 1–2%). Since the RECUBOX® is installed at the lowest point, all condensate containing chlorine compounds flows smoothly into the exchanger and directly into the drain. This prevents the formation of “pockets” of standing water inside the ductwork.
Practical tip: If flexible ducting must be used in certain places (e.g. for connections), always use plastic flexible hoses or hoses with a chemically resistant inner layer. This will help you avoid costly repairs in ceiling spaces in the future.
Note: Proper selection of duct material is crucial to maintain the 12-year warranty on the airtightness of the RECUBOX® unit casing. Inappropriate ducting may negatively affect the hygiene of the entire system.
