What is the lifespan of an enthalpy heat exchanger?
An enthalpy heat exchanger does not have a fixed service life. Manufacturers typically state a minimum lifespan of 10–15 years, but with proper use and regular care it can reliably operate for significantly longer.
Its service life is mainly influenced by the condition of the filters, gentle cleaning, operating conditions and the way the heat exchanger is handled. The greatest risks are mechanical damage to the fins or the use of unsuitable cleaning agents.
Preventive replacement after a certain number of years is not necessary. The heat exchanger should only be replaced if it is damaged, heavily contaminated beyond cleaning, or if its functional performance deteriorates. Filters should be replaced according to their level of contamination.
